The AML950S hardware platform uses different bootloader firmware variations depending on the production batch. If the default filename (allupgrade_aml950S_an13_8G_1GB_sos.img) is not detected by your board, try renaming the image file to one of the alternate valid triggers: allupgrade_aml950S_an13_8G_1GB_68.img & allupgrade_aml950S_an14_8G_1GB_sos.img
Why does this Amlogic board require an .img file extension instead of the usual .bin extension?
Unlike MStar or Realtek chipsets that parse binary dumps (.bin), Amlogic processors utilize raw system image files (.img) designed for direct eMMC partition mapping. Converting or renaming an .img file to .bin will cause the hardware bootloader to bypass the update entirely.
How do I force the TP.SK535.PB801 board to scan the USB if plugging in the power cord doesn't trigger the update?
If the TV boots normally or stays stuck on the logo without reading the USB drive: Unplug the AC power cord. Press and hold the physical Power or Input button on the TV keypad. Plug the AC power cord back in while keeping the button depressed for 5 to 10 seconds. This forces the Amlogic chip into low-level USB recovery mode.
Can I flash this AML950S firmware file using an SD card adapter via USB?
No. Avoid using SD cards inside USB card readers or multi-partition external hard drives. Amlogic bootloaders strictly require a dedicated, single-partition USB 2.0 or 3.0 flash drive formatted cleanly to FAT32 with an MBR (Master Boot Record) partition table.
